Robbers Steal Broadcaster's Phone, Wipe GT Bank Account
One of the fastest means it seems of stealing from people's bank accounts in recent times is via their phones which are stolen from innocent Nigerians.
Momoh |
According to Momoh, his escape from the hoodlums was by providence as he pleaded for his life which they obliged by allowing him to alight from the commercial bus unharmed. As soon as he got to his TV station, he made a call to MTN informing them via their call centre agents requesting for the phone line connected to the line to be blocked as a result of a robbery incidence. Upon confirmation that the line will be blocked, he only had his phone to feel bad about.
Unfortunately for Momoh, the said phone line wasn't blocked and the hoodlums later at midnight transferred over 500,000 (five hundred thousand Naira) to various accounts of other banks which are FCMB, ECO Bank, Zenith bank and First bank. He showed us a copy of the bank statement showing the names and numbers of the accounts debited which of course should make the tracking of the perpetrators easy.
Momoh in an interview with us told us that the said account belongs to his elder brother's while he (Kingsley) is a signatory to the account which gives him same rights to withdraw as his brother. The phone number attached to the account belongs to Kingsley too.
After making several attempts to get the attention of relevant authorities on the issue, it seems every party involved in the case are making Kingsley an orphan as no credible response has come his way from GT bank Ogba branch where he submitted a letter reporting the incidence after the money has been taken, MTN that failed to block the line and the police. He desires the intervention of the authorities that be.
