The Virus And Lagos Lockdown
kerefish waka on the roads has dwindled
The kurukere crowd dispersed
The motor parks lack the motor vehicles
Humans confined like people in shackles
Forced to fight in this battle
The markets that used to be crowded
Now deserted or left uncrowded
The schools on forced holiday
No teaching, no child running around in play
The headmasters are not in charge this day
This is the new reality
Humans managing a calamity
With a theory to conform without much questions
The reality cannot be over mentioned
Government will only try to cushion the tension
Humanity has been exposed
Life pursuits is just like a rose
Though beautiful, fascinating, fulfilling; yet can be dumped at a go
No wahala in this decision, no go slow
Forgoing everything we used to struggle for hitherto
Life is making a new sense to humans
The genesis from Wuhan
The new garden of Eden
The forbidden fruit has been eaten
We don’t know how but we know it is written
Now we face the consequence
We are joint in self-defence
That is what can contain the virus
And reduce the loss
We are going to face by force
Obey as the medics have stated
The hygienic steps they have narrated
No face touching, no hand shaking, no gathering
Social distancing is the new terminology
Not even the powerful and wealthiest can disrespect this ideology
It has touched all human-created classes
Nobles and commons, rich and the poor masses
Beautiful and ugly; big and small
Black and white; short and tall
All are liable to fall
They say it is not a death sentence
Contacting it, is at one’s expense
Na only you go lie down in isolation
At the mercy of the medics wey go chook you all the injection
To try bring about a resuscitation
The consequence is not a fable
NTA, AIT, Channels, TVC - it’s on their stable
We have to fight together to win the war
Brought to us to fight by force
We just have to reduce the loss
Will humanity really learn from this?
Or like they say, will time simply heal
And we forget how we shoved aside life’s pursuit?
When we halted and forgot all we called the truth?
When our only concern was to live; all wearing the same booth?
