Why isn't QANTAS in the list? They have never had a major crash or loss of life

Maybe Qantas isn't considered as one of the most dangerous...which this is apparently about

As here QANTAS should be on the list of the worlds safest airline. Anyone flying with an airline that uses ex lease 747s should really watch out, some are over 25 years old,and have been clocked round the world several times over.

... an Air India plane and it's NOT on fire, NOT exploding and does not have people clinging to the outside of it? Amazing!

If this is the safest airline in the world and still gets listed as the most dangerous, then there is no hope for the aviation industry

A lot of you are totally disregarding the criteria for measuring safety in this report and only considering crashes and fatalities. The measure is accidents AND incidents AND how well the airlines scored, on safety audits. I work for a major airline and wouldn't majorly disagree with these findings... More

How come these so called most dangerous airlines are Middle Eastern / Asian??? The only exception is Brazillian. What about the rest of South America and even the African continent? This report appears both racist and biased against Asia and South America as the majority of African airlines are... More

They forgot KLM. They are the worlds first airline and probably one of the safest.

Qantas should be on the list because it has not had a fatal crash with any of its jets so far as I recall.

The "worlds most dangerous airlines" ... so why are Air New Zealand in this article as the safest. Sort of confused me a little but then, it doesn't take much these days.

So where did Icelandic airways come in the list, as they are one of the safest.?

Surely Quantas is well recorded as the safest airline in the world - so why isn't it featured in this article ?

Sorry but what is the point of this article. The top 10 worst airlines!!! So come on tell us the stats with each one then, how many crashes or near misses, or emergency landings. Why is each one where it is in the list....loads of research went into this then Yahoo ahhhhhhh.

I would believe in such a report when if it comes from a non-profit human organization and based on statistics and record of all near-misses.

One hears many adverse comments about Air India (listed) but for me I had a very enjoyable and relaxing flight from Bangkok via Delhi to London with excellent service. The transit in Delhi was also stress free and organised. My worst experience flying from Thailand to London was with Gulf Air via... More

Looking at the criteria the report looks very good. It is only about the biggest airlines - there are thousands of smaller ones - some good and some terrible - but they don't fall into this list.

These are the 60 best and biggest - so even the bottom of this list is a good airline

Who ever wrote this is a complete moron. If airlines are the dangerous, their license will be revoked by body in charge of Aviation in their country AND countries will ban them from flying into their airspace.

Perhaps JACDEC would list the criteria they use to determine their Safest-Worst list of Safest-Dangerous airlines. As I recall, I haven't seen many headlines listing fatal passenger aeroplane accidents from those on their list. It's maybe a coincidence that of the various European airlines only... More

This article is ridiculous. Lion Air are not the world's most dangerous airline, they are the 60th safest. There are many more airlines in the world than 60, and there are a few that immediately come to mind that are far less safe than Lion Air. Maybe Yahoo! will have a law suit on their hands in... More

This looks like a very cheap and purposeful promotion of one of the worst carriers I know - BA... attacking decent competitors such as Turkish or Korean... What is this ranking based on? None of controversial airlines such as Asiana, Malaysian airlines, United airlines, Air algerie, TransAsia airlines are not on the list. Agree with Lion air though....I guess this list based on last decade and beyond..

Malaysia Airlines are quoted as the 34th safest airline? Not bloody likely, with one that disappeared into thin air, or the ocean and another that is claimed to have been shot down but indicators only show a a fast decompression caused by an explosion. Then again, Malaysia is likely to be one of... More

This is a list of 60 airlines from the world. What makes the bottom 10 the world's dangerous airlines? The most dangerous from this list, maybe. For sure there are airlines missing from the list, I haven't seen many of them. How do they compare to the list, it is unclear.

What a load of cobblers. So Qantas-with not a single fatality in over half a century-isn't mentioned? Yet Vietnam Airlines-with no fatal accidents since it replaced its Russian jets in the late 90s with a modern Airbus & Boeing fleet-gets labelled 2nd worst?
